First time visitor's guide
You have heard of the Southside Festival feeling and want to be part of the community?
This guide will help you make the most of the festival experience – and help to avoid possible mistakes. If you are experienced or not, ther is some useful information on the official website.
Welcome!
As soon as you arrive at the festival site you will have to exchange your ticket for the festival wristband. You will need it to get to the camping and festival site.
If you travel in a group ask your friends to look after you luggage while you fetch the wristband. At the counter you also get an information booklet. It includes some essential information and a map. And you will get the waste bag and the chip. With the delivery of the filled garbage bags and the chip festival you will receive your 5 euro deposit.
the camping ground
At the entrance of the camping site the stewards are ordered to search your luggage. Please keep in mind that for safety reasons glass bottles aren't allowed. Broken glass has caused many injuries on the camping ground and life is easier since only cans and plastic are accepted. Then it is time to look for a nice place where you can pitch your tent.
When your tent is raised and you enjoy your first can of beer you are already part of the festival life. Take care to relocate your camping ground, try to fix a significant point near your tent and use the emergency routes so that you will find home easily. Especially in the night it is quite difficult to find your tent at once.
Head for the band!
You should enter the festival site in time if you like to hear a certain band. At both entrances you will be searched again for glass bottles, plastic bottles, cans and weapons and you must show your wristband. Now, let’s go!
Enjoy the Southside Festival and have a great time!

Southside 2007 was a festival of very contrasting emotions. A storm on Thursday demolished the tent stage and hurled four-meter poles weighing 10 kilograms through the air. One smashed through the roof of a paramedics van parked 50 meters away, killing one of the occupants and seriously injuring the other.
It was considered to call off the festival after the tragedy but police, local authorities and even the paramedics team all said the festival should go ahead. Both of the main stages also suffered minor damage but they were fixed in time for the festival to begin. We had to cancel all the acts on the tent stage including Five O´Clock Heroes, Bromheads Jacket, The Blood Brothers, Mute Math and many more.
The program for the two main stages went ahead as planned and there were some very exciting performances.
There was a great musical variety from headliner like grunge-heroes Pearl Jam or NYC hiphop legends Beastie Boys, to newcomer like State Radio with their mix of punk, rock and reggae. Every band had the audience they deserved and even the less acclaimed bands already pulled crowds of interested musicfans. Neuhausen ob Eck is situated between Munich, Stuttgart and Freiburg, pretty close to the Bodensee. |
