TRASHOLUTION

Trasholution is our waste challenge with added social value. Separating festival waste and disposing of it correctly not only helps the environment, but also supports important projects in the region.

Here's how it works:

Collect your waste separately in the bin bags provided and hand it in at the recycling islands or directly to the waste collection service. For every full bin bag handed in, we donate €1 to social projects in the festival region. If you hand in a bin bag with sorted packaging waste, we will double the donation - €2 will go to a good cause! The more carefully you sort, the more can be recycled and the greater the joint impact. The donations collected will be distributed evenly among the projects so that everyone benefits from your contribution and receives the support they need.

And the best thing is:

If you hand in your waste, you have the chance to win festival tickets for next year! Simply scan the QR code at the recycling islands or at the garbage collection point after you have dropped off your bag - you will also find all further information about the campaign there.

These are this year's donation projects:

Phönix e.V.: 3000 €

Phönix e.V. is the sponsoring association of the specialist counselling centre against sexualized violence. The service is aimed at those affected, caregivers and specialist staff with the main goal of preventing or ending sexualized violence against girls and boys. The name “PHÖNIX” symbolizes that people who have experienced sexual abuse have the opportunity to lead a good and happy life by processing their past, which is no longer defined by being a victim. Just like the bird from mythology, which rose from its own ashes whole and liberated, those affected can lead a life in which the abuse is only one of many parts of their history - and no longer the all-determining factor! The contact point offers advice and support, also in emergencies, for general questions on the subject of “sexual abuse”, as well as being a competent specialist center for education and information on sexualized violence and preventive education. The donations will be used for prevention work in schools and an interactive traveling exhibition to educate pupils at primary and secondary schools in the district of Tuttlingen.

Marie's battle against cancer: 3000 €

Marie Fay has been battling an aggressive bone sarcoma since 2016. At the beginning of 2023, her doctors no longer see any effective treatment options and chemotherapy is discontinued. Nevertheless, she attends the Southside Festival once again - and the unexpected happens there: by chance, she learns about an alternative cancer treatment. It works, her health improves significantly and even her tumor begins to shrink. But because the therapy is not considered standard for her type of cancer, the health insurance company will not pay for it. Marie is now dependent on donations and we would like to support her.

Tuttilla Abenteuerland: 3000 €

The Tuttilla adventure playground in Tuttlingen is a natural play and experience area for children aged six and over - a pedagogically supervised free space that promotes self-efficacy, social learning and creativity. Our hut-building project is particularly popular: here, children build their own individual huts from real wood under supervision and with their own hands, learning the basics of craftsmanship and how to use tools safely. Before they use a jigsaw, cordless screwdriver or drill, they complete a small “tool driving license” with us. The children directly experience what it means to use materials responsibly and to work together towards a real, tangible goal. Our educational team - trained specialists and volunteers - accompany them on this adventure, pre-cut with a circular saw or chainsaw and provide support with planning, statics and implementation. Sustainability plays a central role here: we primarily use wood from the regional sawmill, upcycle old components and encourage the children to use resources responsibly. The donations will be used to buy new tools for the wood and bicycle workshop and to maintain play equipment.

Straßenschule Freiburg: 3000 €

Trasholution Art is an innovative art project of the Freiburg Street School that combines creative forms of expression with climate sensitivity and social participation. Teenagers and young adults who are affected or threatened by homelessness independently develop works of art, musical instruments and sound installations from everyday objects and disposable materials such as cans, bags and cardboard boxes. In an artistic process, accompanied by specialists from StraßenSchule and the artist Wolfgang Rüdiger, they discover their creative potential, reflect on the realities of their lives and try out new perspectives. Trasholution Art makes it clear that art can be created from what others throw away - and that new strength can arise from life disruptions. The donations are used to finance materials and staff for the implementation.

Frauenhaus Tuttlingen: 3600 €

The Tuttlingen Women's Shelter Association has been helping women and children affected by domestic violence since 1991. In two shelters in Tuttlingen and Trossingen, those affected not only receive refuge, but also intensive psychosocial support, crisis intervention and advice on topics such as safety, securing a livelihood or custody. The donations will be used to expand the existing services to include therapeutic horse riding - a particularly effective method for promoting self-esteem, confidence, inner peace and social skills. The horse as a sensitive, non-judgemental counterpart enables women and children to achieve emotional stabilization, new body awareness and the chance to experience strength and self-efficacy.
